How to be the best “bad host”

Bad Host! Have you ever been to a party or event and one person attending had the cold or flu? You probably noticed that oddly enough, although some people did catch it, some did not catch it at all. Not even if they were closer and seemingly more likely to.

What makes the difference? Why do some people get sick or have mild symptoms and others have full blown illness and have a hard time? What does it mean to be a “bad host” to virus and bacteria? If you say it has something to do with the individual’s immune system. You would be correct. Having a great immune system makes you a “bad host” to illness.

What are some factors that affect our immune system? Stress is a huge factor of course and who is not under extra stress these days? Our nerve system that helps our body handle stress is also a major factor. Does stress affect our nerve system? Does it create tension, tightness, and perhaps inability to sleep properly? The answer? YES! This simply makes some people more vulnerable to getting sick than others or having a worse time with it.

We know you are being careful about your exposure these days. We are too AND we are here to help you stay healthy with a healthy nervous system which in turn, relates to overall health. This, along with diet, exercise, nutrition and just plain old fresh air and sunshine are some of the best ways to be a “bad host.”
